Summer 2026: changes in libraries' opening hours and provision of services

News

During the summer period, some libraries will observe scheduled closures or reduced opening hours.

All libraries and the University will be closed from August 8 to August 16 inclusive.

In addition, throughout the month of August, the evening and weekend openings of the Library of Legal and Humanities Studies (BSGU) and the Biology, Computer Science, Chemistry and Physics Library (BICF) will be suspended.

Regular services will gradually resume starting August 31, with a return to normal opening hours from September 1.

Closures and Reduced Hours

July 27–31

Biomedical Sciences Library at Città Studi: reduced hours, 9.00-16.00.
Philosophy Library: reduced hours, 9.00-16.00.
Language Mediation Library: reduced hours, 9.00-16.00; closed on Friday, July 31.
Library of the Central School of Medicine: reduced hours, 8.30-16.00.
Veterinary Medicine Library: reduced hours, 9.00-16.00.

All other libraries will be open with regular hours.

August 3–7

APICE: regular hours
Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Computer Sciences Library (BICF): reduced hours, 9.00–16.30.
Philosophy Library: reduced hours, 9.00-13.00; closed on August 6 and 7.
Library of the Central School of Medicine: reduced hours, 8.30–16.00.
Veterinary Medicine Library: reduced hours, 9.00–13.00.
Ancient Studies and Modern Philology Library (SAFM): reduced hours, 9.00–13.00.
History and Historical Documentation Library: reduced hours, 9.00–16.30; on August 7, reduced hours, 9.00–13.00.
Political Science Library: reduced hours, 9.00–15.00.

All other libraries will be closed.

August 8–23

All libraries will be closed.

Exception: the Philosophy Library will be open from August 17–21 with reduced hours, 9.00–16.00.

August 24–28

Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Computer Sciences Library (BICF): reduced hours, 9.00–16.30.
Biomedical Sciences Library at Città Studi: reduced hours, 9.00-16.00.
Philosophy Library: reduced hours, 9.00-16.00
Ancient Studies and Modern Philology Library (SAFM): reduced hours, 9.00–13.00.
Earth Sciences Library: reduced hours, 9.00-16.30.
Political Science Library: reduced hours, 9.00–15.00.
Law and Humanities Library (BSGU) – Sala Centrale: reduced hours, 9.00–16.30.

All other libraries will be closed.

August 31

Libraries will be open with regular hours, except:

Library of the Central School of Medicine: reduced hours, 8.30–16.00.
Medicine San Paolo Center: closed.
Veterinary Medicine Library: reduced hours, 9.00–16.00.
Law and Humanities Library (BSGU) – Sala del Settecento: closed.
Law and Humanities Library (BSGU) – Diritto privato e storia del diritto: closed.
Law and Humanities Library (BSGU) – Diritto del lavoro: closed.
Law and Humanities Library (BSGU) – Sala Common Law: closed.

Loans and Services

Loans due during the summer period will be automatically extended until Monday, August 31.
Loan requests submitted through the Minerva catalogue will be suspended from Thursday, July 30 to Thursday, August 27 inclusive.
Interlibrary loan requests and purchase suggestions submitted through the Minerva catalogue will be suspended from July 30 to August 28 inclusive.

Anyone placing a loan request during the last week of July is encouraged to select a pickup library that will remain open in the following days.

BiblioHELP, our online support service (Libraries and Digital Library), will be suspended from 8 to 23 August inclusive.

The thesis archive will be closed from August 3 to August 28 inclusive.
