APICE - video documentary on La Notte

A new video documentary on the history of La Notte, the celebrated daily newspaper that left a lasting mark on twentieth-century Italian journalism, is now available on the University of Milan’s YouTube channel. Produced by Didi Gnocchi for “30 Produzioni” and directed by Cristina Nutrizio, the documentary retraces the newspaper’s innovative approach through the voices of leading figures in journalism and culture, including Vittorio Feltri, Natalia Aspesi, Piero Colaprico, Aldo Grassi and Massimo Donelli.

Published from 1952 to 1995, La Notte stood out for its direct style, its focus on news reporting, sport and photography, and its ability to anticipate forms of communication that would later shape contemporary journalism.

The University of Milan holds at APICE a significant archive collection relating to La Notte. Made up of extensive paper records and photographic materials, it is an important resource for the study of twentieth-century journalism.
The APICE archive includes around 90,000 photographic files, more than 25,000 sleeves of negatives, thousands of original sketches by celebrated caricaturists, and over 6,000 film review records. Together, these materials offer a unique account of more than four decades of history, culture and public information.
