After the merging of the Faculty's book collections, the Library of Agricultural and Food Sciences, has reached an heritage of approximately 105,000 volumes of books and periodicals.
The collections originated from the library of the Royal Institute of Agriculture, which during the first decades of the last century, carried out activities similar to those of the present Faculty of Agriculture: it is therefore possible to find many works of that period in the library, which can be useful for historical research purposes.
In addition to the core subjects such as biology, microbiology, chemistry, physics and mathematics other disciplines covered are: agronomy, agricultural engineering and hydraulics, zootechnics, microbiology and food technologies, tree and herbaceous crops, sustainable agriculture, agricultural economics, biotechnology and landscape management.
The library has six open-shelf reading rooms where books are arranged according to the Dewey decimal classification. 124 reading places and Wi-Fi are available to library users. Textbooks and reference works are located in the corridor.
