100 Books for Peace
The University of Milan Library Service presents 100 Books for Peace, a bibliographic exhibition on the theme of peace, drawn from the book and documentary collections of the University libraries and part of the wider La Statale per la Pace (Statale for Peace) programme.
Conceived by Laura Frigerio, Head of the Humanities Libraries Department.
Curated by the University of Milan Library Service, the exhibition presents a selection of books and documents exploring the theme of peace from multiple perspectives. The exhibition is part of La Statale per la pace (Statale for Peace), the project through which the University promotes reflection and dialogue on this topic.
The exhibition is hosted at two different venues: the Ghiacciaia Courtyard of the Philosophy Library in Via Festa del Perdono, and the Library of Biology, Computer Science, Chemistry and Physics (BICF) at Città Studi. At the first venue, the exhibition focuses on philosophical thought, political action, civic engagement, and artistic and literary expressions related to peace. At the second venue, the exhibition examines the complex relationship between peace and science.
Through the materials on display, the exhibition offers a reflective journey on peace that does not provide definitive answers, but instead invites visitors to ask questions, to recognise its fragility and complexity, and to consider peace as a dynamic process that concerns everyone.
The books on display are freely accessible, allowing visitors to consult them directly and draw inspiration and insights. The complete list of books and documents related to the theme of peace and available in the University libraries can be accessed through the Minerva catalogue page under the special collection 100 Books for Peace. This includes not only the titles exhibited, but also all publications selected by the libraries, and will be progressively updated with new acquisitions.
