Philosophy "A Year-Long Blanket – Standing Against Violence Towards Women"

On 25 November at 2 pm, the Ghiacciaia area of the Philosophy Library will host the opening of the exhibition marking the conclusion of "Una coperta lunga un anno. Contro la violenza sulle donne" (A Year-Long Blanket. Standing Against Violence Towards Women), an initiative launched in November 2024. Prof. Irene Pellizzone, Delegate for the Prevention of Gender-Based Violence, will attend the event.

The exhibition showcases blankets crafted by the students of the Arcus Crochet Course led by Sandra Meloni, as well as those created by the wider Unimi community: students, staff, researchers, lecturers, choir members, mothers, wives, aunts, grandmothers, and friends. Two local associations — "Le Uncinettine di Atessa" and "Le Uncinettine di Casalanguida", both based in the province of Chieti — also played an active role in the project.

The Philosophy Library coordinated both the collection of more than six hundred granny squares and the making of over fifty colourful blankets.
All blankets will be donated to the SVS Donna Aiuta Donna Anti-Violence Centre and will support the “Cascina Ri-Nascita” project, a shelter for women who have survived violence.

The exhibition will be open to visitors from 25 November to 19 December, from 9 am to 4 pm.
