Four service centres designed to operate in an integrated way.
The new Biblioteca di Studi giuridici e umanistici is organised into four service centres designed to operate in an integrated way. The aim is to simplify access to resources and make the experience of study and research more efficient.
The four service centres of the library
Sala Centrale – Learning centre
Sala Centrale is the main point of reference for learning activities and basic services:
- course reading lists
- centralised loan collection point
- consultation of materials
It also provides advanced services, including:
- interlibrary services
- bibliographic information and research assistance
Nuova Crociera – Research centre
Nuova Crociera is dedicated to research collections:
- open-shelf law and humanities collections
- loan services
- consultation of materials
Sala del Settecento – Historical collections
Sala del Settecento houses the modern special collections of the library, available for consultation.
Sala Senato – Rare books
Sala Senato preserves and makes available for consultation the rare book collections, in a dedicated and reserved environment.

Integrated services between Sala Centrale and Nuova Crociera
The services of Sala Centrale and Nuova Crociera are designed to operate as a single coordinated system.
The circulation of materials is organised in order to reduce user movement within the library: it is not the user who goes to the book, but the book that comes to the user.
Services for users in the new library

- short-term loan of journals (doctoral students, research fellows, researchers and academic staff)
- consultation of materials (books, journals and special collections)

- self-recording service (doctoral students, researchers and academic staff)
- interlibrary services
- bibliographic information and research assistance
- deposit shelf for materials consulted in Crociera (doctoral students, researchers and academic staff)
- 3 study rooms reserved for doctoral students, researchers and academic staff
- External users will be allowed to access the rooms and consult the materials.
