The exhibition on Japanese graphic design, open until April 2026 at the Museo civico archeologico of Bologna, offers a visual narrative of the various stages of Japanese graphic design, from the Edo period (1603-1868) to the present day. The posters on display illustrate the evolution of Japanese graphic design from the 1960s to the first decade of the 2000s, when Japanese design became globally recognizable.
The loaned posters are part of a collection of Japanese posters, created by some of the most representative Japanese graphic designers starting in the 1960s. These posters were donated to the Library by the DNP Foundation for Cultural Promotion of Tokyo.
