Charta Collection

The Charta Collection contains the complete catalogue of Charta, an independent publishing house, donated in 2013 by its founder Giuseppe Liverani. The publications focus on contemporary artists, photographers, architects, and designers.

Charta is an independent publishing house founded in Milan in 1992 by Giuseppe Liverani, specializing in books on contemporary and modern art, photography, architecture, and design. Over more than two decades, it published volumes dedicated to major international figures—artists, photographers, architects, and designers—along with essays and catalogues for both solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. When the publishing house closed in 2013, Liverani donated a copy of every book ever published by Charta (917 titles) to the University of Milan, along with numerous catalogues from Mazzotta and Electa publishing houses, where he had previously served as director, bringing the total collection to 998 titles.
