Japanese Poster Collection

The Library received a donation of 151 screen-printed and offset posters from the DNP Foundation for Cultural Promotion in Tokyo, representing Japanese graphic design from the 1960s onwards.

TheLibrary has received a donation of 151 screen-printed and offset posters from the DNP Foundation for Cultural Promotion in Tokyo, featuring works by Japanese artists from the 1960s onwards.

The collection includes some of the most representative names in graphic design and illustrates the technical and aesthetic evolution of the poster format from the post-war period to the present day, transitioning from pure hand-drawn design to photography and, eventually, computer graphics. The catalogue provides not only the title in both Japanese and its transliterated form but also an image reproduction and a brief description of each poster. Explore the collection on Minerva.
