2026–2029 Agreement
The new agreement, which is currently under negotiation, is being implemented in advance of the service commencement on 1 May 2026. It will offer the possibility of unlimited publication in the publisher’s hybrid and gold open access journals. Further details will be communicated and published as soon as they become available following the conclusion of the negotiations
Contents
A subscription providing access to the publisher’s entire 2026 catalogue, together with the possibility of unlimited open access publication for the University’s affiliated corresponding authors in hybrid and gold open access journals. Please note that hybrid journals transitioning to gold open access during the contractual period will continue to be covered by the agreement.
Green Open Access
Affiliates of the University of Milan (Unimi) have the right to publish their articles indefinitely, subject to a 12-month embargo from the date of acceptance. At a minimum, the post-print version of their articles (reflecting peer review modifications) may be made available on their personal website and/or the institutional repository as Open Access.
OA publications management
The corresponding author affiliated with the University may choose to publish in Open Access upon acceptance of their work, using their institutional email address. The contract allows OA publication while enabling the author to retain copyright under a CC-BY 4.0 licence.
The publication process requires the corresponding author to select the University as their affiliated institution before opting for Open Access. For articles with multiple authors, only the corresponding author who submitted the article is eligible as an affiliated author.
The article types eligible for open access publication are currently under review by the Negotiation Team. However, the article types Review Articles and Research Articles are definitively included.
The process is centrally managed by CARE-CRUI, with final approval of affiliation validated by the Unimi Approval Manager. Please check the dedicated authors' guide.
