What is the Difference between Basic and Advanced Library Services?
- Basic library services are available throughout the library’s opening hours and do not require the presence of specialist library staff. These services include the use of reading rooms for studying, consulting open-shelf collections and the Digital Library, and access to self-service lending machines, book return boxes and photocopiers.
- Advanced (professional) library services are provided by specialist library staff continuously from 09am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. These services include orientation and bibliographic consultation, borrowing and returning items at the circulation desk, interlibrary loan services, and access to collections held in storage.
Library opening hours and details about both service levels are established by decision of the Director General dated 28 July 2023.
