Antonello Gerbi Collection
The Antonello Gerbi Collection is part of a larger body of material distributed among several University libraries and originally formed from Antonello Gerbi’s personal library.

Antonello Gerbi (1904–1976), scholar and bibliophile, collected books throughout his life that reflect his wide-ranging intellectual interests.
Beginning with a core of art books and D’Annunzio editions inherited from his father, Gerbi gradually acquired and collected works on American, French, Italian, English and German literature, the history of political thought, philosophy, art history, Renaissance studies, economics and economic history, the history of the book and bookbinding.
In 2000, the University of Milan acquired part of his library—approximately 8,000 volumes. These were distributed among different libraries according to subject. The Biblioteca di Storia dell’Arte, della Musica e dello Spettacolo holds around 2,000 of them.
