Seminar “Sguardi sulla storia della medicina”
On 11 February 2020, the seminar “Sguardi sulla storia della medicina” (Perspectives on the History of Medicine) was held, where the University’s libraries presented some of their historical and valuable collections, including the History of Medicine Collection preserved at the Malliani Library. The event provided an overview of the collection and discussed selected themes documented within it, including an analysis of Exercitatio Physiologica, an 18th-century work by Bartolomeo de Battisti, a key figure in the history of Milan’s Ospedale Maggiore, and Delle alienazioni mentali ed il miglior metodo di curarle, a mid-19th-century psychiatric volume. The discussion also touched on vaccination and tuberculosis, highlighting their continued relevance today.
The cataloguing of these collections was supported by the Lombardy Region.
