Renato Caccamo, a judge at the Milan Court of Appeal, was also a passionate music enthusiast.
Following his passing in 2011, his heirs decided to donate his extensive musicological library—comprising unique audio and video recordings, along with a vast collection of scores and music-related texts—to three different institutions.
The collection was divided between
- the Library of the G. Verdi Conservatoire in Milan
- the University of Genoa
- the History of Art, Music and Performing Arts Library at the University of Milan
The Caccamo Collection consists of 2,000 bibliographic units, including scores, monographs on music, and musical manuscripts. Particularly noteworthy are the rare editions not found in other Italian libraries: 19th-century publications, predominantly French, featuring operettas and popular pieces, some of which are first editions.
