Consulting Archival Collections

How to access the archival collections held by the University

Several University libraries and research centres house documentary archives of notable academics, cultural figures, and publishing institutions.

The University’s Historical Archive is preserved at the APICE Centre – Archivi della Parola, dell’Immagine e della Comunicazione Editoriale (Archives of Words, Images and Publishing Communication).

Information on archival collections held in the libraries is available on the Archives webpage and via the La Statale Archivi portal, which also describes materials held at the APICE Centre.

Who can use this service?

The service is available to all institutional and external users interested in consulting the archives for study or research purposes.

How does it work?

Access to archival materials is by appointment only. To schedule a visit or request further information, please contact the relevant library or email archivi.statale@unimi.it.

Each library sets specific conditions for access and use of archival materials.

Consultation, reproduction, and dissemination of documents must comply with preservation requirements, personal data protection laws, and copyright regulations. Any citation or use of archival materials must include a reference to the holding institution and the relevant archival collection.
