BIBLIOTECA DI SCIENZE AGRARIE E ALIMENTARI - COLLECTIONS

The Biblioteca di Scienze Agrarie e Alimentari, following the consolidation of the Faculty’s library collections, holds approximately 105,000 books and journals.

The collections originated from the library of the Royal Higher Institute of Agriculture, which in the early decades of the last century carried out activities similar to those of the current Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. As such, the library holds many works from that period, which may be of interest for historical research purposes.

On 19 February 2021, a conference celebrated the 150th anniversary of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences in Milan.

The subject areas covered, in addition to core disciplines such as biology, microbiology, chemistry, physics and mathematics, include: agronomy, agricultural engineering and hydraulics, animal husbandry, microbiology and food technologies, tree and herbaceous crop cultivation, sustainable agriculture, agricultural economics, biotechnology, and landscape and natural resource management.

The library is organised with open-access shelving, and books published after 1990 are arranged according to the Dewey Decimal Classification. Books published before 1990 are kept in storage and must be requested at the desk.

Textbooks and reference works are located in the corridor.
