How to print, copy and scan documents

Who can use this service?

This service is available to all institutional and external users. 

How does it work?

Libraries provide self-service print, copy and scan facilities, allowing users to (copyright restrictions apply):

  • Photocopy items in the libraries.
  • Print documents uploaded via USB flash drive.
  • Scan unpublished materials (e.g. lecture notes, book summaries, diagrams) onto a USB flash drive.

This is a paid service, available via prepaid cards, which can be purchased from vending machines listed in the adjacent information box. Cards should be handled carefully to avoid damaging the magnetic strip. For further details, please ask at the library. 

What can I print, photocopy or scan?

Under copyright law, users are personally responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Up to 15% of a printed book or journal issue may be photocopied. Reproduction is not permitted if it endangers the preservation of materials. Electronic resources may be printed within the limits set by individual licence agreements. 

What are the costs?

A prepaid card costs €5 (equal to 125 credits) and is non-rechargeable. The current costs for printing, copying and scanning are:

  • Black and white, A4 €0.04 (1 credit)
  • Colour, A4 €0.24 (6 credits)
  • Black and white, A3 €0.12 (3 credits)
  • Colour, A3 €0.48 (12 credits)
